The executive committee of the Rivne City Council together with the administration of the city of Lublin is preparing a joint project for participation in the competition of the Interreg NEXT Poland-Ukraine 2021-2027 program

On May 31, 2023, a set of applications for the First call for projects within the framework of the Interreg NEXT Poland-Ukraine 2021-2027 Program was announced. The competition is held for such priorities as Environment and Health. EUR 81.11 million has been allocated from the Program budget for the First project competition (the division is as follows: Environment – EUR 43.75 million, Health – EUR 37.36 million). The amount of the grant that can be attracted within the framework of the competition ranges from 200,000 euros to 2.5 million euros.

According to the terms of the competition, representatives of the cross-border territories of Ukraine and Poland can apply for participation. Joint writing of the project and solving problems for the participants of these territories is mandatory.
The cities of Rivne and Lublin became partner cities on October 1, 2013, developing cross-border cooperation, they have many years of successful experience in implementing projects, therefore they decided to continue cooperation within the framework of this competition.
On July 10, 2023, representatives of the administration of the city of Lublin visited Rivne on a working visit. The purpose of the meeting is joint work on submitting a project to the Interreg NEXT Poland-Ukraine 2021-2027 Program competition, regarding security issues in the event of emergency situations (priority - Environment).
Currently, the preparation of the project is being completed, because the deadline for submission of applications lasts until August 31 of this year.
Representatives of the Department of Strategic Development and Investment of the Department of Economic Development repeatedly participated in working meetings during the preparation of the project and were involved in the preparation of the necessary documents to be submitted to the competition.
The main task of the project is to increase the competence of civil protection services in Lublin and Rivne in the field of functioning of civil protection systems and effective management in crisis situations. Increasing the competence of these services will take place through the exchange of experience between partners within the framework of joint trainings, seminars and conferences.
Also, as part of the implementation of the project, it is planned to increase the level of fire protection for residents of Rivne by expanding the system of fire hydrants in the city - namely, by installing about 100 fire hydrants.
