United Nations Democracy Foundation
Financing projects aimed at developing and supporting democracy.
UNFPA supports projects aimed at strengthening the voice of civil society, supporting human rights, involving all groups in democratic processes. The bulk of UNFPA funds is directed to local civil society organizations at the stages of transition to democracy and consolidation. In this way, UNFPA plays an innovative and significant role, complementing other UN activities with governments to strengthen democratic governance around the world. Projects are designed for two years and relate to one or more of the seven main areas:
  • Development of society;
  • the rule of law and human rights;
  • democratization tools;
  • empowerment of women;
  • empowerment of young people;
  • freedom of the media;
  • Enhancing interaction with the government.
